Welcome to Hestia’s Kitchen, its lovely to meet you.
Hestia’s Kitchen is all about history and folklore through food and stories. It is also the home of the food & storytelling podcast ‘Folklore, Food and Fairytales’ and the Tuesday CheeseDay blog. There are also occasional cats and cocktails.
Folklore, Food & Fairytales is a storytelling podcast featuring stories with recipes and food history connected to each episode’s story. Food and stories have their own rituals and feed different parts of us. If you had to choose between the two, could you? Is the food in fairytales and folklore really symbolic or does it just make the tale relatable? How is the history of food tied into stories? Will this podcast answer these questions or will there just be a great story and a highly tenuous link to a delicious recipe? You’ll have to listen and explore to find out.
Tuesday CheeseDay is my opportunity to indulge my love of everything cheese. If you’re looking for cheese in facts, folklore, recipes, history, art or literature, you’ll find it here. You can also find out about cheese producers, cheese news and cheese events that appeal to me.
If you want to get in touch to talk stories, food history, food or cheese in particular you can find me via the details on my contact page. Comments are also available on all the blog posts. I’m assured that the anti-spam filter doesn’t bite.
If you are here hunting a recipe in particular and don’t find the rest of my prose fascinating please feel free to hit the jump to recipe button at the top of each blog post.
